Palestine Coalition condemns Trump’s Board of Colonisation

“This is not a ‘Board of Peace’, and it is clearly not aimed at achieving justice.”

The Palestine Coalition has released a statement against Trump’s so-called “Board of Peace” in Gaza. You can read it in full below.

This weekend, Donald Trump unveiled details of his so-called “Board of Peace”, a disgraceful plan to entrench colonial rule over Gaza.

The “Executive Council” will be stacked with Trump’s allies and cronies, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former Prime Minister Tony Blair, a man whose hands are stained with the blood of hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis.

Neither Blair, Trump, nor any of these figures should be anywhere near the rebuilding and governing of Gaza. The Palestinian people alone have the right to determine Gaza’s future, and they must lead this task.

There is set to be no Palestinian representation on Trump’s “Executive Council” nor his “Gaza Executive Board”, the body set to sit below the council, which will oversee the governance of Gaza. Instead, Trump is grotesquely asking $1 billion from countries that want a permanent place on the board.

This is not a “Board of Peace”, and it is clearly not aimed at achieving justice. It is a board of colonisation, aimed at cementing Israel’s occupation, fragmentation, and domination of the Palestinian people and their land. It is the next stage in the attempt to erase the Palestinian people.

Despite more than two years of genocide and decades of apartheid rule, the Palestinian people continue to resist their oppression. We must match this steadfastness. We will continue to demand that Keir Starmer publicly opposes these plans, rejects any invitation for Britain to join Trump’s colonial board, and instead finally stands up for international law, starting by imposing comprehensive sanctions on Israel, including a full arms embargo.

Join us once again on Saturday 31 January in London, when we will march with a clear message: End the genocide. Hands off Gaza. Stop arming Israel.
