“We urge our members, fellow trade unions, and the wider labour movement to continue mobilising, protesting, and calling for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the occupation, and justice for the Palestinian people.”

The Executive Committee of the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU) have released a statement of solidarity with the Palestinian people following the continuation of brutal and indiscriminate Israeli military attacks on Gaza.

The Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU) stands in unwavering solidarity with the people of Palestine in the face of Israel’s continued and escalating attacks. The recent bombardment, indiscriminate destruction, and collective punishment of civilians in Gaza and the West Bank are not acts of defence—they are violations of international law and crimes against humanity.

We are appalled by the ongoing assault on Palestinian lives, including the targeting of hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and vital infrastructure. The mass displacement of civilians, the blockade preventing access to food, water, and medical aid, and the deliberate targeting of journalists and humanitarian workers are blatant war crimes.

The UK government and international institutions must end their complicity in these atrocities by ceasing arms sales to Israel, imposing meaningful sanctions, and holding those responsible accountable. The failure to act in the face of such clear breaches of human rights is unacceptable.

BFAWU has always stood for justice, workers’ rights, and international solidarity. We reaffirm our commitment to supporting the Palestinian struggle for liberation, self-determination, and an end to apartheid. We urge our members, fellow trade unions, and the wider labour movement to continue mobilising, protesting, and calling for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the occupation, and justice for the Palestinian people.

Palestine must be free.

In solidarity,
BFAWU Executive Committee
