Apsana Begum MP: The chilling complicity in Gaza’s destruction will not be forgotten

Over 46,0000 people have now been killed – newborns and infants freezing to death.

And now, 15 months on, a ceasefire has been declared and yet the bombardment and the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure has continued before its ratification. 

These are the actions of the UK’s close and staunch ally and this is why we continue to come together to protest and say: “not in our name”.

The best way to ensure aid is delivered in Gaza is a ceasefire and the best way to secure a ceasefire is to stop the supply of arms.

No matter the spin or double speak, no matter the censorship and denial by the political establishment, the majority of people in our country know that UK and US foreign policy interests are being pursued with a disregard for Palestinian life. Even with this ceasefire, this chilling complicity will never be forgotten.

More broadly, we won’t stop coming together until there is justice and full accountability, an end to the siege of Gaza, an end to the oppression and dispossession of the Palestinian people, and until we have a free and independent Palestine.
