John McDonnell MP issued the following New Year’s video message today – watch and read in full below
“I want to wish everybody a happy and a peaceful New Year.
Going for peace in 2025 has got to be our prime objective.
And in particular, I want peace to reign in Gaza. I want the hostages released, of course I do, but I [also] want to end the daily murder of Palestinian children by the Israeli Defence Forces.
This is a time in 2025 when we need our political leaders to stand up and condemn what’s happening – genocide, [and] end the sale of arms to Israel, recognise the Palestinian state and bring justice to the Palestinian people.
And in that way… we’ll secure peace for the long term.
So, yes, I wish everybody a happy and peaceful New Year, but let’s all work for peace together.
Let’s have the courage of political leadership to secure that peace and end the killing, especially of the children, in Gaza.”
