“Not in our name. No more complicity. No more weapons sent to kill & maim.”
Apsana Begum MP
At the National Demonstration for Palestine on Saturday, Apsana Begum MP sent a strong message to the new Labour Government, calling on them to back an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, to restore UNRWA funding and to end arms sales to Isreal. You can read her full speech published below:
Over 38,000 have been killed in Gaza and yet the killing goes on. Millions have been displaced in the region, but displacement continues.
Israel is deliberately creating humanitarian crisis on top of humanitarian crisis. Not only does the illegal occupation remain, forced evictions continue, as Israel is still seizing more and more land. All while oppression and brutality is the day-to-day reality of Palestinian men, women, and children.
So, we come together again today, to stand up for humanity and to send a clear message to the incoming Government.
Not in our Name. No more complicity. No more weapons sent to kill and maim.
An immediate ceasefire and restoration of UNWRA funding.
Not only this:
- The ongoing oppression and dispossession of Palestinian people must END.
- The illegal settlement programme must END.
- The forced evictions must END.
- The illegal occupation must END.
- And, yes, there must be unconditional and immediate recognition of the State of Palestine.
This week I was re-elected by the people of Poplar and Limehouse to be a voice for peace and justice and to stand up for Palestinian people.
Because in East London we know – none of us are free until all oppressed people of the world are free.
Free Palestine!
