“We would like to hear.. how will he “save the NHS” when he is a private practitioner, owning a significant private health enterprise.”

The following petition has been launched by ‘Defend our NHS in Islington North’ after Labour’s imposed candidate Praful Nargund refused to attend a hustings organised by health campaigners in the constituency.
The petition reads as follows, “Praful Nargund, the Labour Party Parliamentary candidate for our constituency , Islington North, has refused to attend any of the three hustings events held in the constituency and has refused to speak to BBC London News and Islington Tribune.
Islington North constituents deserve to know their candidates and what they stand for. This is all the more significant because Nargund has been imposed on the Islington Labour Party by Keir Starmer, who expelled our MP, for 41 years, Jeremy Corbyn.
Corbyn has worked tirelessly for the Whittington Hospital, which he also helped to save on two occasions. He has also been a strong advocate for better mental health services.
Nargund claims on his election material that he will “fight for our Whittington Hospital”. We would like to hear what he has done for the hospital to date and how he will fight for it in future. And how will he “save the NHS” when he is a private practitioner, owning a significant private health enterprise.“
Their demands followed numerous local Labour members writing an article about how Labour’s candidacy in Islington North was, in their words, “in stark contrast to the hugely popular and hardworking MP whom he seeks to replace. Many local councillors and branch and constituency officers have chosen not to campaign for him, despite pressure to do so. Scores of activists have left the Party in disgust, including many branch organisers, chairs and even the chair of the CLP.”
