“We’re asking you once again to join your local demonstration this weekend to keep up the pressure for a ceasefire, something our government – and opposition front bench – has continued to oppose.”
By the Peace and Justice Project
On the weekend, hundreds of thousands once again marched in London to demand an immediate ceasefire.
Yesterday morning, protesters occupied the HQ of Barclays bank, a major investor in arms companies sending weapons to Israel with which to conduct its genocidal bombardment of Gaza, which has left over 27,000 people dead, 60,000 injured and thousands missing under the rubble.
We’re asking you once again to join your local demonstration this weekend to keep up the pressure for a ceasefire, something our government – and opposition front bench – has continued to oppose.
Reinstate funding to UNRWA
Following the International Court of Justice ruling that Israel has a case to answer for the crime of genocide, nine governments around the world – including the United Kingdom – suspended funding for UNRWA, the main UN agency supporting Palestinians including in Gaza. Use our tool to write to your MP to ask them to demand the UK government reinstates its funding to this vital agency which is providing a lifeline to millions of Palestinians.
Barclays – Stop Arming Israel
On Friday 9 February, hundreds of us will shut our Barclays accounts in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Barclays is a major investor in companies including Raytheon, BAE Systems and Boeing – all of whom are sending weapons to Israel that are being used to bomb innocent Palestinians in Gaza. Together, we demand Barclays #StopBankingOnGenocide – find out more about the campaign and how you can shut your bank account here.
Donate to UNRWA
The head of UNRWA has stated that without more funding, they will likely have to cease their operations by the end of February. This would signal another disaster for the Palestinian people who have had to endure decades of suffering and now constant bombardment in the Gaza strip. If you can afford to, please consider donating to UNRWA directly.
We hope you can join your local demo this weekend and together keep up the pressure on our elected officials to call for a ceasefire, now!
