“For 100s of years we have been using protest to win justice for our communities” – now is the time to defend it

Protest is a human right, no matter what this government says. We simply can’t sit back and allow them to take that away.

The Policing Crime Sentencing and Courts Bill will return from the House of Lords on Monday to be debated by MPs. The Bill contains a raft of measures to curtail the right to protest and that attack the way of life of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.

After demonstrations, lobbying, and direct action, some of the worst excesses of the Bill were defeated by the House of Lords, but there’s still a long way to go to defend the right to protest and #KillTheBill.

Labour Outlook caught up with Delia Mattis – an activist with Black Lives Matter, #KillTheBill, and the campaign against the Silvertown Tunnel – to talk about the legislation and what we can do to stop it. Check out the video below.
