“After a year of Covid Lockdowns we’ve seen & heard the impact of this government’s failure.”Keith Venables, Health Campaigns Together
This piece is based on a speech given by Keith Venables (Health Campaigns Together) at the recent Zero Covid Coalition launch
Health Campaigns Together (HCT) offers our full solidarity to the Zero Covid Strategy and the Zero Covid Coalition. Since 2015 HCT has offered campaigners, unions and political parties the opportunity to build the capacity of the movement to fully reinstate Our NHS. The first time we shared a platform with Jeremy Corbyn and others here was in March 2017 at our quarter of a million strong London demo.
We know that after a year of Covid Lockdowns we’ve seen and heard the impact of this government’s failure – no strategy, no plans, no use at all.
In January there were 69,000 new cases in one day and 11 Trusts had more than half of their beds occupied by Covid patients. The death toll is rising, having surpassed 100,000.
Everyone has been affected by this government’s incompetence – patients, families, whole communities. And there is distress, anxiety and exhaustion amongst all Key Workers, who feel undervalued and or under aid. Let’s fight for an early and significant pay rise for them all.
With our sister organisation – Keep Our NHS Public – Health Campaigns Together put together an NHS Rescue Plan and are about to launch a People’s Inquiry into the Government’s handling of the Pandemic.
More immediately, we would like to invite you all to our Online Conference: “The Pandemic and Privatisation” Thursday February 25, 6.30-8.30pm (register here.)
We wish to send solidarity to all in this fight for a Covid Safe and fully re-instated NHS.
We will fight and we will win.
