Growing sections of the Labour Party and broader labour movement have called for Jeremy Corbyn’s reinstatement after his suspension last Thursday.

A Tweet from the Socialist Campaign Group of Labour MPs said ‘we firmly oppose the decision to suspend Jeremy Corbyn from the Labour Party. We will work tirelessly for his reinstatement. The fight against antisemitism and all forms of racism is central to the struggle for a society based on justice and equality’.

Trade union leaders of Labour-affiliated have joined with MPs to oppose the decision , writing as ‘as the leaders of unions representing working people who desperately need a Labour government,‘ and to express their serious concerns about the manner of and rationale for suspension of the former party leader. The statement is signed by Mick Whelan (ASLEF), Sarah Woolley and Ian Hodson (BFAWU), Dave Ward (CWU), Matt Wrack (FBU), Chris Kitchen (NUM), Manuel Cortes (TSSA) and Len McCluskey (Unite). In his own statement, Len McCluskey called the suspension ‘an act of grave injustice’.

Campaigning groups have also expressed their dismay and solidarity, including the Labour Assembly, Labour for a Green New Deal, Labour Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign, Peoples’ Assembly and Stop the War Coalition.

On Friday, MPs, Trade Unions, and activists came together at an excellent online Momentum rally to condemn the decision, with 10,000s of party members tuning in to support Corbyn and call for an immediate reversal of his suspension.

Over 20,000 people have also already signed a petition calling for the suspension to be lifted and many are taking this CLPD motion to their branches and CLPs calling on the former Labour leader to be reinstated.

As we’ve previously said at Labour Outlook, it’s vital that we support Jeremy Corbyn and the socialist policies Labour adopted under his leadership.

Now is the time to take action:

Together we can win Jeremy’s reinstatement to the Party.
