Respect Veolia workers’ right to choose their own union!

“It’s time senior management in Paris steps in to resolve the dispute and end union-busting tactics.”

Labour Outlook is reproducing this call from Unite the Union for the reinstatement of four members sacked at Veolia in Sheffield and recognition of the union- it is vital that workers are free to organise and able to collectively negotiate for decent pay and conditions.

78 refuse workers are taking industrial action because their employer, Veolia, will not respect their right to choose their own union. They are all Unite members and make up a significant number of the workforce – but Veolia refuses to negotiate with Unite over pay and conditions.

Managers have tried to bully workers into submission and have sacked an elected workplace representative, plus three other Unite members.

Veolia and Sheffield Council have to stop the union-busting.

Please show your support and sign this petition now. Tell Veolia to:

  • Immediately reinstate the four sacked Unite members and drop all sanctions
  • Respect the wishes of its workforce and sign a collective bargaining agreement with Unite in Sheffield
  • Senior management in Paris to step in to resolve the dispute and end union-busting tactics

You can view a draft letter to Veolia CEO Estelle Brachlianoff and Tom Hunt, Leader of Sheffield City Council below and add your name here.
